America's Tapestry
TAKE PART IN THE PROJECT
Throughout 2026, Americans will celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary. On Saturday, February 7, from 9am to 5pm, you can be part of this celebration by joining us at the Hershey History Center to experience the America's Tapestry project. The museum will be open for special hours on this day.
The tapestry, designed by the creative team of America’s Tapestry, consists of thirteen embroidered panels, representing the first thirteen colonies. It weaves together stories from our nation's founding through the medium of embroidery. The Pennsylvania Panel, which will be at the Hershey History Center on this day, depicts the activities of flag workers over 300 miles from each other in Pennsylvania, the Keystone State.
Please email Lisa Maloy at lisa.maloy@hersheyhistory.org if you would like to volunteer to stitch the tapestry panel. You do not need to be an embroidery expert, but some experience in needlework is helpful.
Participants and observers will need to pay for museum admission. Thank you.
This event offers a hands-on way for the community to connect with the national Semiquincentennial celebration. By contributing to this panel, participants become part of a collective effort to honor the diverse history of the original colonies.
The Tapestry will be exhibited in prominent gallery spaces in 2026 and 2027.
