Remembrance Tree History
Each year when the Train Show goes up, so does the Remembrance Tree. The tradition started in 2000 by volunteers Bunny Yorty, Wanda Reid and Marilyn Leiby (below) as a way of raising money for the Historical Society. Individuals or organizations purchase an ornament in memory or in honor of someone, and despite inflation the cost has remained the same. The number of donors has grown over the years, and in 2022 twenty-five donors raised $920 for HHC operating costs. Bunny (right) continues the tradition which celebrates its 24th year in 2024.
