The
Nissley Farm Cemetery,
according to Donald Koons, was located near the old Curry Mill
along Spring Creek, southwest of the Park Golf Club. In another
place, Koons reports that the cemetery was in the area of the
American Water Company office. Another resident who would know,
Jay Curry, agrees.
Unfortunately,
the cemetery is not documented on the map of Derry Township published in the Historical
Atlas of Dauphin County,
1875 , but we can see
the name Nissley on the map in the area that is suggested. In
Fishburn's log, there is a record that John and John F. Fishburn
were brought from Nissley's land to the Fishburn Cemetery . Further, in the log, Fishburn
writes, “brought fm Nissley's Land now vacated” which would
lead us to believe that the Nissley Cemetery ceased to exist at that
point.
There were many
branches of the Nissley family in the area so there could have
been a number of Nissley family plots. A number of lists have
been found that abound with the Nissley family name. We believe
that this plot was a relatively small plot so probably none
of the lists we have actually represent the plot from the farm
we seek. The names are reproduced here, just in case someone
is missing some Nissley names.

cost is $5 per surname and you may supply up to three alternate
spellings (total of four). If you find your ancestors in the
list below and require additional information, please contact
us .
For
more thorough research, please request a copy of our research
policy. In addition, our obituary
list and our name index of
“lost and found” ancestors may be of interest to you.
